The bisallyl ether A (1 g, 2.59 mmol) was heated neat at 190°C (oil bath) under argon for 6 h. The resultant brown residue was dissolved in Et2O and filtered through silica to afford 6,6’-diallyl-2,2’,4,4’-tetramethoxybiphenyl-3,3’-diol P as colorless oil (0.88 g, 88%).

Decalin (8 mL) was added to a solution of skeleton A (0.7mmol) at rt. The reaction mixture was stirred at reflux. The reaction was traced by TLC until skeleton A was consumed. The reaction mixture was cooled to rt. Decalin was evaporated to afford crude product under reduced pressure. Purification on silica gel (hexanes/EtOAc = 8/1 ~4/1) afforded skeleton P (16 mg, 89%).
